Privacy Policy

Mortgage Monitor is designed to be private. Here's exactly what happens with your data.

Your mortgage data stays on your device

All mortgage details, overpayments, and payment adjustments you enter are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. There is no server, no database, and no cloud backup. If you clear your browser data, your mortgage information is permanently deleted.

No bank connection

Mortgage Monitor does not connect to any bank, building society, or financial institution. It is a standalone tracker: you manually enter your numbers and the app does the maths locally.

No account or sign-up

You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. The app works immediately in your browser with no registration.

Anonymous analytics

We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used (which features are popular, where users drop off). This helps us improve the product.

  • We generate an anonymous browser fingerprint (a random identifier) to distinguish unique visitors across sessions. This is not tied to your identity.
  • We collect: device type (mobile/desktop), browser, operating system, country (from your browser's language setting), timezone, screen size, and referrer source.
  • We do not collect: your name, email, IP address, mortgage numbers, or any financial data you enter in the app.
  • Mixpanel session recording may be enabled. This captures interactions (clicks, scrolls) but not financial data entered in forms.
  • Analytics are disabled entirely when the app runs on localhost (developer environments).

Cookies

Mortgage Monitor does not set any cookies. We use localStorage for app data and analytics identifiers. No third-party cookies are loaded.

Third-party services

  • Mixpanel — analytics (EU data residency, api-eu.mixpanel.com).
  • FingerprintJS (open-source) — generates the anonymous browser identifier.
  • Vercel— hosting. Your browser connects to Vercel's CDN to load the app. Vercel may log standard access data (IP, user agent) as part of their infrastructure.

Your rights

Since we don't store any personal data on our end, there is nothing to request, export, or delete from our servers. To remove all data from your browser, clear localStorage for this site or use your browser's “Clear site data” option.
